Slow Food Italia

The Slow Food Movement started in Italy in 1986 by Carlo Petrini.

Slow Food Italia was founded to counter the rise of fast food and fast life and the disappearance of local food traditions and peoples dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from and how it tastes. The Movement brings awareness of how our food choices affect the rest of the world.

“Slow Food unites the pleasure of food with responsibility sustainability and harmony with nature.” Carlo Petrini, Slow Food Founder and President

Slow Food envisions a world in which all people can access and enjoy food that is good for them, good for those who grow it and good for the planet.

The approach is based on a concept of food that is defined by three interconnected principles:

Good: Quality, flavorsome and healthy food.

Clean: Production that does not harm the environment.

Fair: Accessible prices for consumers and fair conditions and pay for producers.

Bella Tuscany Travel supports the Slow Food Movement and the meals included in our tours are all in agriturismi and ristorantes that are part of the Slow Food Italia Movement. It is our mission to help preserve the Lifestyle of Italy and to introduce the foods and culture to our guests. In addition to utilizing the places that are involved in the Slow Food Movement, a contribution is made in the name of each tour to the local chapter to assist them in their efforts to promote the mission of Slow Food.
Our home base is part of the Slow Food Valle di Serchio Garfagnana and and they receive our contributions.
